Supernaturalistic – Album Review

2008 July 23

Sander van Doorn is a little known trance DJ from Holland, few know of him, but those that do, love him. His latest offering, called ‘Supernaturalistic’ came out in March and I am a proud owner of it. Quite simply, it is sensational, better than Pendulum, better than Black Sun Empire, and better than anything that you will hear on breakbeat.co.uk.

It would be a grave mistake to miss out on seeing Sander play because you’re not a ‘trance’ fan. You can be a nazi of any genre – and it’s still guaranteed that Sander Van Doorn will have you bouncing along with the entire of the dancefloor!

Highlights include ‘Look Inside Your Head’, a perfect opener to the album, which is a distinctively moody and dramatic track that prepares the ground for what’s in store. ‘Sushi’ and ‘Apple’ are stripped back yet driving, an indicator to the trance sound that is evolving. ‘The Bass’ is a must for dance-floor moments, whilst ‘Lobby’ perfectly illustrates Sander’s ability to completely switch styles, a stunningly serene track that feels like you’ve put Doorn in a blender with Vivaldi (well, sort of).

‘Supernaturalistic’ is a perfectly executed artist album from Sander Van Doorn, one of the futures brightest names in electronic music
